Travel Options for The Gargoyle House

There are four main ways to get to The Gargoyle House -- planes, trains, busses and automobiles:

By Car

By Bus

From Boston/New York City: There are two main bus lines that service the Upper Valley/Northeast Kingdom; The Darmouth Coach and Greyhound Bus Lines. Greyhound has busses to White River Junction, and Dartmouth Coach brings you to Hanover, NH, which is about 30 minutes south of The Gargoyle House. The Dartmouth Coach is a very good service, and includes wifi. It is the better choice.

By Train

By Train to New Haven with Rental Car to GH--A good solution to travelling which gives you freedom while visiting is to take Metro North from Grand Central Station in NYC to New Haven, CT. There are rental car companies like Avis and Budget that operate directly from New Haven's Union Station with significantly lower rates than one can find in or near NYC. The drive up Interstate 91 to the Gargoyle House is direct and scenic. This option works well if you want freedom to tour or get around locally while staying at the House. This is also a good option for those flying into NYC who want more freedom to see New England during their stay.

By Amtrak

Amtrak has a special train that runs from Washington, D.C. to Vermont, 'The Vermonter'. The closest station at which you can be picked up is 'White River Junction', which is located about 40 minutes south of The Gargoyle House. Reservations and schedule information can be found on the Amtrak website.
If you want to come by train, please be sure to email and arrange to be picked up at the station.

By Plane

The two closest international airports are Burlington, VT or Manchester, NH. Many men rent a car at the airports for the short drive (1 1/4 to 1 3/4 hour) to The Gargoyle House. Sometimes, a pickup at the airport is possible -- please email to arrange this. A commuter airline, Cape Air, also offers service to the Lebanon, NH Airport, where you can rent a car for a short drive up to the Gargoyle House.
